AI Visibility for churches

How do people find our church when they ask ChatGPT?

Families new to town ask ChatGPT things like “church with a good kids program near me” or “Mass times Sunday evening”, and it answers from the churches whose service times, denomination and programs are written on their own pages as plain text. If your times live on a flyer image or a Facebook post, it may give the wrong time or name another church.

What your customers actually type

“church with a good kids program near me” “Catholic Mass times Sunday evening near me” “contemporary worship service in Lafayette” “church with a Spanish service near me” “where can I watch a church service online in Broussard” “church that does weddings for non-members”

Each of these is a question the assistant answers by naming a few businesses. The ones it names are the ones whose pages answer that exact question.

A visitor’s first question is “when”

Most visitors want three facts: when are services, what’s it like, and what is there for my kids. Churches often post those in the hardest places for an assistant to read: a bulletin PDF, a graphic on social media, a calendar widget. A wrong service time is worse than none.

What your pages need to say

  • Every service time as text, by day, with the language and style (traditional, contemporary).
  • Denomination and a plain line about what a first visit is like.
  • Children and youth: ages, what happens during service, safety check-in.
  • Livestream link, parking, accessibility, and how to arrange weddings, funerals, baptisms.

Church checklist

  1. Service times as text, by day, kept current

The question nearly every visitor asks.

  2. Denomination and worship style stated

“Contemporary” and “Catholic” are in the question.

  3. Kids and youth programs with ages

    Families ask about this first.

  4. Language of each service

“Spanish service near me” is its own search.

  5. Livestream link and accessibility

    Answers “can I watch online”.

  6. Google listing with service times in the description and a website link

    Feeds the map card.

  7. Holiday schedules posted early as text

Christmas and Easter times are asked every year.

Check it yourself in five minutes

  1. 1

Open ChatGPT in a private (incognito) window, so it isn't shaped by your own history, and ask: “church with a good kids program near me”

  2. 2

Ask the same question two more times, worded a little differently. Answers change from one ask to the next, so one try is not a verdict.

  3. 3

Write down who gets named, in what order, and what it says about each. Then ask it directly about your business by name and check every fact: hours, address, what you sell.

  4. 4

Do the same in Perplexity and Claude if you can. The businesses that show up everywhere are the ones whose facts are clear in the places all of them read.

Questions

Our Google listing has “hours”. Is that the same as service times?

Not really. Office hours confuse assistants. Put service times on your website as text and in your Google listing’s description, and keep office hours clearly labelled.

We change times for summer. How do we keep this right?

Update your website and listings the same week, and say “summer schedule, June to August” in words. Then check what ChatGPT says a week later.

Is $79 a month right for a church?

That depends on how much you rely on new visitors finding you. The free check at the bottom costs nothing and shows what your site gives an assistant to read today.

Type your church’s website. We read your homepage the way a search crawler does and list what’s missing: business details assistants look for, page titles and descriptions, and anything hidden from search. Results show right on the page. No card, no account.
